Custom Bronze Nut for Heavy Equipment

Bronze nuts are used wherever a threaded bronze component has to carry load, resist wear or hold position under vibration — lead screws, adjustment and clamping assemblies, valve stems, and drive mechanisms on mining and heavy equipment. Because the thread form and the alloy both affect how the part performs in service, most bronze nuts are best made to the mating screw rather than chosen from a catalogue.

Design and materials

We cast and machine bronze nuts to your drawing, or reverse-engineer them from a worn sample when no drawing is available. Common grades include C93200 (SAE 660) tin bronze for general load-bearing threads, C93700 where dirt or grit is present, C95400 and C95800 aluminum bronze for higher strength and impact, and C86300 manganese bronze for heavily loaded nuts. Manufacturing and inspection

Nuts are produced by sand casting, centrifugal casting or metal mold casting depending on size and quantity, then machined in-house to the required thread and tolerances. Centrifugal casting gives a denser structure than sand casting, which is useful for parts that see continuous load. Each batch is checked for composition on a spectrometer and for hardness in our own laboratory; dimensional checks are made against the drawing. Learn more about our casting processes.
