Graphite bronze bushings — also called graphite-plugged bushings, graphite copper bushings or JDB solid-embedded bearings — combine a cast bronze body with solid lubricant plugs set into the working surface. The bronze matrix carries the load while the graphite plugs supply lubrication where oil films are hard to form, which makes this design common in low-speed, high-load, reciprocating or oscillating positions on mining and heavy equipment.
Design and materials
The bushing body is cast in tin bronze, lead bronze or aluminium bronze depending on load, speed and environment, and graphite plugs are arranged across the sliding face. Because the graphite does the lubricating, the part can run in dusty, wet or wash-down conditions where grease and oil are difficult to keep in place. We cast to your drawing or reverse-engineer a worn sample, so bore size, flange, oil grooves and plug pattern follow the original fit.

Typical applications
These self-lubricating bushings are often used in crusher and screen mechanisms, conveyor and bulk handling pivot points, pump and valve linkages, and construction machinery joints where regular greasing is impractical. Manufacturing and inspection
We pour in our own foundry using centrifugal, sand and metal mold casting, then machine and check the parts in-house. Composition is verified by spectrometer and hardness is tested before shipment, so the bronze grade and plug fit match what was ordered.
