Graphite Bronze Sliding Plate for Heavy Equipment

Bronze sliding plates carry the moving load between two surfaces where a bushing or bearing shell is not practical. In mining and heavy equipment, they are typically found in slide ways, wear pads, guide plates and thrust faces, where the plate must resist load, sliding wear and corrosion while keeping friction predictable. Xinxiang Haishan Machinery casts and machines these plates to drawing, in solid bronze or with graphite plugs for self-lubricating duty.

Design and materials

A sliding plate is specified by its load, sliding speed, lubrication condition and mating surface. Solid bronze plates suit lubricated or water-flushed positions, while graphite-plugged plates are used where grease or oil supply is intermittent or difficult to maintain. Graphite plugs set into the plate face deposit a lubricating film as the mating part moves, which tends to reduce stick-slip and scoring.

Common grades for sliding plates include C93200 (SAE 660) tin bronze for general medium-load duty, C93700 where dirt or grit is present, C95400 aluminium bronze for higher strength and impact, and C86300 manganese bronze for heavy load. Plates can also be cast in C90700 tin bronze, C51100 phosphor bronze or matched to an original grade.

Manufacturing and inspection

Plates are produced by sand casting, metal mold casting or centrifugal casting depending on size and section, then machined in-house to the drawing. Graphite plug positions, grooves and mounting holes are formed to the customer's print. Each batch is checked by spectrometer composition analysis and hardness testing in our own laboratory before shipment.
