Punch press bronze bushings sit at the heart of the frame, slide and drive train, where they carry shaft loads, guide moving parts and absorb the repeated impact of every stroke. Because a press runs under constant cyclic load, the bushing material and fit matter as much as the machine itself. We cast and machine these bushings to your drawing or a worn sample, matching the original alloy so the replacement drops into place.

Design & materials

Bronze is usually specified for press bushings because it tolerates sliding contact, resists seizure against a steel shaft and damps vibration and noise. Common choices include tin bronze such as C93200 (SAE 660) for general press bearings, and aluminum bronze such as C95400 where higher strength and impact resistance are needed. For positions that cannot be greased often, graphite-plugged self-lubricating bushings are an option. Typical configurations include:

  • Plain cylindrical bushings for shaft support and sliding fit
  • Flanged bushings for axial location and to stop end float
  • Thrust bushings for face support of rotating parts
  • Graphite-plugged bushings for hard-to-lubricate positions
  • Split or custom-profile bushings per drawing

Typical applications

These bushings are used in punch presses and stamping equipment, but the same geometry and alloys appear across heavy machinery. In mining and quarrying, bronze bushings support crusher shafts and eccentric assemblies; in construction machinery they guide pins and pivot points; in pumps and hydraulic units they serve as wear sleeves. If you are replacing a press bushing, the bore, flange and oil groove details are usually the critical dimensions to confirm.

Manufacturing & inspection

We pour our own melts and offer sand casting, metal mold casting and centrifugal casting, with centrifugal castings typically denser than sand castings. Machining is completed in-house to drawing, and each batch is checked by spectrometer for composition and by hardness testing before shipment. If you only have a worn part, we can reverse-engineer it and match the original material.
