Bronze Bearing Protection Sleeve for Heavy Equipment

A bearing protection sleeve is a bronze wear component that sits between a rotating shaft and its housing, taking the friction and load so the more expensive shaft and bearing seat do not. In mining and heavy equipment, these sleeves are usually the part that wears first, and replacing a sleeve is far simpler than repairing a scored shaft or a worn housing bore. We cast and machine bearing protection sleeves to your drawing or a worn sample, matching the original alloy and dimensions.

Design and materials

Sleeve design depends on load, speed, lubrication and the mating shaft material. Common choices include C93200 (SAE 660) tin bronze for general medium-load service, C93700 where dirt or grit is present, and C95400 aluminum bronze where impact and higher loads are expected. For locations that cannot be greased regularly, a graphite-plugged self-lubricating version can be supplied. Wall thickness, bore tolerance and lubrication grooves are set to your drawing.

Typical applications

Bearing protection sleeves are used on crusher shafts, conveyor pulleys, pump shafts, and pivot points on construction and bulk handling equipment. They are common in mining and quarrying and in aggregates and crushing plants where dust and continuous load shorten component life.

Manufacturing and inspection

Each sleeve is poured in our own foundry, then machined and checked before shipment. Composition is verified by spectrometer and hardness is tested in our own laboratory, so the alloy you specified is the alloy you receive. We also produce related bronze bushings and custom cast bronze parts.
