Self-Lubricating Bushing Maintenance Guide

Low maintenance ≠ no maintenance

Graphite-plugged bronze bushings remove the grease gun from your routine — but a few checks keep them alive for years.

Inspect the graphite plugs — they should wear level with the bore. Recessed plugs mean the bronze is carrying the full load.
Watch temperature — a persistent temperature rise signals overload or misalignment, not lubrication failure.
Check clearance — measure bore wear at each overhaul; replace when clearance exceeds 1.5–2× the original fit.
Keep it clean — in abrasive dust, protect the exposed bore from direct grit ingress where possible.

If the bronze itself is worn or the housing is damaged, we can machine a replacement to the original fit, or re-sleeve the housing.
